About Us

Our History

College Town Montessori was first opened in October 1990 by Mike & Louise Sanderson. They renovated the downstairs of their own family home to create a small purpose built Nursery school. The very first customers were their own four children, cousins, close family friends and neighbours. Over time the Nursery began to grow and in 2006 the Nursery extended its opening hours offering care from 8am until 6pm 48 weeks of the year. In 2012 a second setting was opened in Camberley Town centre and in July 2017 the owners extended the original property in Sandhurst to the adjacent bungalow.

Where we are now

At present College Town Montessori now operates out of the two buildings in Sandhurst, Camberley Town Montessori continues to grow and more recently an After School club has been opened in Sandhurst offering breakfast and dinner to those children attending College Town Infant school. Five family members now work within the Nurseries and two of the founders grandchildren currently attend.

Our ethos

Central to our ethos is the concept of a warm family relaxed environment. Children are treated as unique individuals and progress at their own pace, having the freedom to enjoy independent learning. Our large garden and heated indoor swimming pool enable children of all ages to experience a range of physical challenges and to enjoy much of their day outside, irrespective of weather. Nutritious food is prepared on the premises and we promote a healthy diet and lifestyle. The children are often involved in helping to prepare the snacks and evening meals. Mealtimes are a very important experience for young children, encouraging social interaction. Every piece of equipment has a purpose. Staff will direct and support a child’s learning by guiding them towards the next appropriate challenge always aiming to satisfy their thirst for knowledge.
